The Punch Line To Our Friendship

It’s not the first time this week
I’ve exposed my soul, inside a dark room
And you are the exposure
That I’ll put inside a photo frame

I hear Edmonton is nice this time of year
But I don’t have the heart to go there
Do you remember the embrace?
When I told you that “I’ll miss you” always and forever
Well forever is an awfully long time

It’s not enough to speculate
I’ve got to say, something perfect
To save what we once had
Because I can’t hold my own
In a room full of strangers
It’s a disaster waiting to happen
And the cold weather is a conduit
To tell you how I’m keeping

Imagine eternity without ever hearing
The punch line to our friendship
Imagine eternity without ever hearing
The punch line to...this life
